Kristen + Nathan | Married
This wedding was especially close to my heart, since the groom, Nathan, is a cousin of mine. I think the little plane we took from the Southwest Florida airport up to the Grand Rapids, Michigan Airport was completely filled with my family. Those poor flight attendants. 🙂
This was my first trip to Michigan. After landing in Michigan, we met Nathan and Kristen at Kristen’s family home located above their water sports business which is on a little lake which connects to Lake Michigan. We jumped on some jet ski’s and jetted out onto the lake. I’ve seen Lake Michigan from the Chicago side, but wow, what a different view from Michigan. The water is so beautiful, hugged by the rugged coastline of sand dunes. We climbed a giant sand dune but still were not brave enough to swim in the crisp water of the lake. I guess the Florida Golf has me pretty spoiled. After cleaning up from our adventure, we took the boats to a waterfront restaurant for dinner. If this was our first day in Michigan, I knew we were in for a treat for this wedding weekend.
Nathan and Kristen’s wedding reception took place on their boat, The Holland Princess. They danced their first dance on Lake Michigan as the sunset on the water. It was an intimate wedding, with just their close friends and family. We continued to cruise around the lake after the sun had set, with the little cafe lights on the top deck of the boat lighting up the dance floor, while the first floor offered a relaxing scene for quiet conversation.
