Highland Lake Engagement

Jen and Steve met in High school. At that point in time though, according to Jen, Steve was too shy to pursue her. However, time has a way of marching on and making clear for us what we want or need in our lives. And so, ten years later, Steve made his interest in Jen clear. Steve’s career in the Marines meant that the two of them had a limited window to date before he had to head back to South Carolina. Every possible waking moment was spent together, and after returning to South Carolina, the lines of communication were kept alive via Skype, phone calls and a multitude of texts.

From there we jump forward to 2013 and, with the blessing of Jen’s parents, a surprise proposal!

Jen and Steve enjoy doing almost anything as long as they are together, from slow pitch softball, to fishing, to playing with their adorable “puppy” named Mattis. This was obvious when we met them for their summer engagement session at the Silver Lake Park in Highland, IL. The sun setting over the Highland Lake was a perfect setting for their photo session and of course we had to take a few fishing themed engagement photos.

We can’t wait to see these two all dressed up for their spring wedding next year at Hidden Lake Winery in Aviston, IL.
