Pink Peonies, Bow Ties, & a Necklace From J. Crew, all crusted with Gold Sparkling Details…. I am forever in love with this wedding! (which may be why we accidentally matched the wedding.)

The “Getting ready” pictures were taken at the Hyatt, in downtown Saint Louis, with an amazing “First look” moment on the Hyatt veranda. We then took Bridal Party pictures at Union Station, trying to use period specific architecture and flare to tie into the Wedding theme. The day culminated in both Wedding Ceremony and Reception being held at the incomparable Thaxton.

We love hearing from each Bride & Groom just what their Wedding day was like. Enjoy a few excerpted comments from Carl and Danielle:

What did you like most about your hair, shoes and/or dress?
Danielle : “I loved wearing my gold sparkly flats because not only were they super comfortable and fun, but they also fit right into our color scheme for the day. Since my dress was a silk material, it was incredibly light and so easy to move around in.”

What He loves most about Her:

Her guidance and advice.  “Danielle helps motivate me to be on the best path in life for myself, making me a better person then I could ever be alone.”

What She loves most about Him:

“Carl is one of the most caring people I have ever met in my life. He constantly puts others before himself and really does put my happiness above everything, even when I don’t always deserve it.”

One of the most beautiful moments of the day was when Carl & Danielle saw each other for the first time. They decided to do their “First Look” on the rooftop of The Hyatt hotel. Carl arrived first, introspectively scrutinizing the riverfront as he waited for his Bride. Expansive windows gave a near panoramic view of the Arch and surrounding city, while keeping noise from the bustling city below to a minimum. So, Carl could just think.
When Danielle swept onto the terrace, the anticipation was palpable. She and Carl were drawn to each other instantly, in an undertone they exchanged cherished words, and for all practical purposes the rest of the world may as well have disappeared for those few moments.

Tell us about the first moment you saw your bride/groom:
Danielle: “When I saw Carl, I honestly felt like time stopped for a moment and nobody else existed. All of the stress that I had been feeling that day went away and I was overcome with happiness and excitement.”
Carl: “Seeing Danielle in that moment of the first look was a great way for us to get back to feeling our connection to each other in the midst of a busy day. It was amazing, exciting, yet relaxing, and it most definitely did not take away from seeing her walk down the aisle.”

What was your vision for your wedding day? How did you make it personal?
Danielle : “We wanted a wedding that was fun and romantic, with stylish elements that felt a little bit like the 1920’s. I knew that making the wedding fun wouldn’t be a problem, from having one of my best friends officiate the wedding, to having live music during dinner, it made the night pretty entertaining. The biggest 1920’s piece of it was of course, The Thaxton building, but we added little elements here and there like like using vintage forks with “bride” and “groom” engravings and draping pearls over our wedding cake.”

What was the most memorable part of the day?
Danielle: “It’s so hard to pick just one, but I would say besides the actual first look, it was after the first look, when all of our best friends were waiting for us inside. We ran inside and started high-fiving everyone, it was so fun. We really did have an awesome wedding party and having them there with us will always be one of the most special memories.”
Carl: “The most memorable part for me was watching the doors open at the beginning of the ceremony.  Watching my wedding party and then Danielle walk towards me was a moment more full of love and beauty than I could ever Imagine.”

The Thaxton St Louis Wedding Ceremony & Reception Venue

How did you choose your venue?
Danielle : “As soon as we walked into the Thaxton for the first time, Carl and I knew it was special. It truly is unlike any other venue, from the art deco style artwork, to the gorgeous, intricately-painted ceiling, to the speakeasy-style lounge downstairs for dancing. The fun, non-traditional style of the building really fit our personalities.”

What advice would you give to future Brides?
Danielle : “Try to enjoy every second of the big day because it will be over before you know it. It is so easy to get caught up in the little things and want to have control over every little thing. At some point you just have to let it go, let people do their thing, and focus on sharing your special day with the people that you love most, especially your groom.”
